Download winscp

If you have not already, please download winscp and unzip/install the program.

FTP Connection

  1. Launch winscp.

  2. Select FTP connection from the drop down.

  3. Enter the servers Host name, User name and Password.

  4. Select Login.

SFTP

If you have not already, please download winscp and unzip/install the program.

SFTP Connection

  1. Launch winscp.

  2. Select SFTP connection from the drop down.

  3. Enter the servers Host name, User name and Password or optionally key.

  4. To configure a private key, select Advanced, or move on to step 6.

  5. Select SSH -> Authentication and load the private key file used to SSH into the instance. NOTE: the key should be in the putty .ppk format file extension.

  6. Select Login.

Database

Below is an example connecting to a MySQL database using HeidiSQL

If you have not already, please download HeidiSQL and unzip/install the program.

  1. Launch HeidiSQL.

  2. Select New

  3. Enter your Hostname/IP, User name, Password.

  4. Select Open.

SSH - Key Generation

  1. If you have not already, please download puttygen PuttyGen - Download

  2. Launch PuttyGen

  3. Select "Key" -> "SSH-2 RSA Key"

  4. Select "Generate"

  5. Move your mouse over the area to generate a key as seen below.

  6. Click "Save Public Key" and sent this back to us for implementation on each server.  

  7. Enter a passphrase for the private key and click "Save Private Key"

SSH - Configure a Session

  1. Download Putty and Launch it: Putty - Download

  2. Enter hostname of your Linux/Bastion Server and enter a descriptive name for this session to be saved as.

  3. Select "SSH" -> "Auth" on the left hand side.

  4. Check "Allow Agent Forwarding" and browse to your private key generated in the previous step.

  5. Select "Session" on the left hand side.

  6. Select "Save"

  7. Highlight "MyLinuxInstance" and click "Load" and then click "Open" to initialize the connection.

SSH - Agent Forwarding

Launch Pageant to enable connections between instances within the environment with out the need to store your private key file on an instance.

  1. Download Pagent Pagent - Download

  2. Launch Pagent and double click it from the task bar to open the administrative interface. 

  3. Click "Add Key" and navigate to your .ppk key file created in previous steps. 

  4. Your private key file will now be loaded in pagent for agent forwarding support in your linux environment
